PIMS Hospital in Udaipur successfully treated twins born with low birth weights brought from Gujarat. The Chairman of PIMS Hospital, Ashish Agrawal, stated that under the leadership of Dr Ankitkumar Panchal, the newborn twins born in the eighth month were kept in the NICU for 22 days and were successfully discharged home. It is challenging and lengthy to bring the weight of preterm infants to normal. Infections, difficulty digesting milk, and underdeveloped lungs are the main obstacles. To mature their lungs, an artificial surfactant was administered. Without mechanical ventilation, PIMS was able to send both babies home successfully. The treatment of the children was provided free of cost under the Chiranjeevi Scheme. The success of the treatment was due to the significant role played by the Department of Pediatrics, headed by Dr Vivek Parashar, Dr Rahul Khatri, Dr Prajna Tingra, Pediatric Resident Dr Vaishali, Dr Neha, Dr Tanay, Dr Amita, Dr Shubhajit, NICU Incharge Ashok, Varsha, Rashi, Deepak, Lokesh, Amit, Shiv, Rekha, Hukum, Priyanka, Sarwan, Reena, Chhagan, and Bhawar, the nursing staff.
