Inauguration of Advanced TMS Neurostimulation Technology Lab at PIMS Hospital, Udaipur

Udaipur:  In a unique initiative, the Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Umarda has inaugurated its innovative advanced TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) Neurostimulation Technology Lab. The lab was inaugurated by PIMS Executive Director Naman Agarwal in the presence of Chairman Ashish Agarwal, Sheetal Agarwal, and Avya Agarwal.

During the ceremony, various distinguished guests were honored, including renowned psychiatrist and cognitive neuroscientist Professor Praveen Khairkar, head of the Psychiatry and Cognitive Neuroscience Department. Professor Khairkar, trained at the prestigious BIDMC Harvard Medical School, will provide deep industrial knowledge, advancing the treatment of neurological diseases. The technical team, led by Rajesh Khairkar from IIT Kharagpur, ensures the lab’s operations remain at the forefront of current technological standards. Principal Suresh Goyal praised the team’s collaborative efforts.

Assistant Professor of Medical Psychology Dr. Archish Khivsera explained the evidence-based practices of TMS, while Murtaza, Sushil, and Inderpal demonstrated patient protocols. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) plays a crucial role in treating cerebral and neurological disorders. By modifying brain activity, it provides non-invasive neuromodulation, beneficial for conditions like depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. In neurology, TMS aids in stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson's disease management, and addresses motor disorders.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by faculty members, residents, and physicians from RNT Medical College, Geetanjali Medical College, and Pacific Medical College and Hospital. The addition of the Neurostimulation Technology Lab at PIMS Umarda marks a new chapter, becoming a beacon of hope for individuals battling neurological diseases.
