PIMS and Umarada Launch ‘Say No to Plastic’ Campaign with Distribution of 10,000 Cloth Bags

Udaipur | The ‘Say No to Plastic’ and women empowerment awareness campaign was launched on Saturday with the support of PIMS Hospital, Umarada, in collaboration with the Rahda Foundation and Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board. The initiative commenced with the distribution of over 10,000 cloth bags. During the event, held outside Commerce College at a Gawri program, more than 300 bags were handed out to Gawri artists and attendees.

At the ceremony held at Nehru Hostel, Archana Singh Charan, Founder of Rahda Foundation, praised the unprecedented support provided by Ashish Agarwal, Chairman of PIMS Hospital Umarada, Director Sheetal Agarwal, Dr. Devendra Jain, and the Pollution Control Board officials. Charan highlighted the urgent need to combat the environmental damage caused by the extensive use of plastic bags and emphasized that this campaign aims to address this issue. She stated that the initiative starts with the distribution of 10,000 cloth bags, with full support from PIMS Hospital, Umarada. The goal is to raise awareness among both the administration and the public in Lake City about environmental conservation, ensuring a beautiful and healthy development of the city. The cloth bags are being produced by the Fashion Design Department at Sukhadia University, providing employment to women and thereby empowering them.

RO Sharad Saxena and Dr. Udit Soni from the Pollution Control Board stressed the importance of protecting the environment for future generations and mentioned that the Board is working through various channels to address this need. Support was also expressed by Dr. Alka Agarwal, a gynecologist from RNT Medical College, and social worker Dr. Meenakshi Garg, who pledged to further promote this campaign and focus on involving women in environmental protection efforts. Other contributors, including Doli Mogra, Rekha Purohit, Sarla Agarwal, and Julie Sharma, also shared their thoughts. At the end of the event, guests were honored with plants and mementos.
