Udaipur: The third season of the PIMS Mewar Cup kicked off on Sunday at the Field Club ground in Lakecity. Two matches were played on the opening day, with many cricket fans and city residents gathering to watch international cricketer and Delhi Ranji team captain Ayush Badoni in action. This year’s Mewar Cup will once again feature international, national, and IPL players hitting boundaries and sixes on the field. After the successful organization of the PIMS Mewar Cup last year, the third edition is being organized under the banner of PIMS Hospital Umarda and Mirage Pipe & Fitting.
Organizers Naman Agarwal and Kuldeep Ameria shared that in the first T20 match at the Field Club, Udaipur Lakecity Warriors, batting first, posted a total of 195 runs for six wickets in their allotted overs, thanks to 42 runs from Upendra Yadav and 31 runs from Mayank Rawat. Abhimanyu Lamba took 4 wickets and Rahul took 2 wickets. In reply, Udaipur Cricket Academy could only manage 175 runs before losing all their wickets. Ayush Badoni scored 32 runs but could not lead his team to victory. Mouni Grewal took 3 wickets.
Organizers Chandrapal Singh Chundawat and Harshit Dhabhai informed that in the second match, Mewar Tourism Club, with the help of Tajender Dhillo’s 42 runs, managed to score 114 runs. In response, Delhi Challengers chased down the target in just 11 overs, losing 4 wickets with 36 runs from Uwais Ahmed and 30 runs from Karan Sharma.
Earlier, during the opening ceremony, the state’s Cooperation Minister Gautam Dake and BJP city district president Gajpal Singh Rathore interacted with the players and officially inaugurated the tournament. Teams participating in the competition include Liberty, PIMS, MPC, Delhi Challengers, Udaipur Lakecity Warriors, Udaipur Cricket Academy, Adittyam Real Estate, and GR Cricket Academy.
International cricketers like Deepak Hooda, Rahul Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Ravi Bishnoi, Rajat Patidar, Yash Dhul, Suyash Prabhu Desai, Ayush Badoni, Jitesh Sharma, and Ashutosh Sharma will showcase their skills with both bat and ball. A lucky draw will be held every day, and on the final day, the selected winner will receive an electric scooter. The winning team will be awarded five lakh rupees, while the runners-up will receive three lakh rupees. The first six matches will be held at the Field Club ground, with the semi-finals and final taking place at Mirage Cricket Stadium in Nathdwara.
