Biopsy of Difficult Lung Mass Conducted at PIMS Hospital

Udaipur,  Physicians at the Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital in Umarda have conducted a biopsy of a challenging lung mass through CT-guided needle biopsy.

Ashish Agrawal, Chairman of PIMS Hospital, stated that a 62-year-old individual was admitted to the Department of Respiratory Diseases with complaints of chest pain, difficulty in breathing, and dry cough. It was revealed during consultations that the patient was a smoker.

Upon examination, a lesion resembling a mass was found in the chest as no visible lesions were detected with a right lung bronchoscopy, a CT-arm X-ray machine was used per the biopsy guidance. The biopsy revealed cells of various conditions, indicating lung cancer and other conditions like tuberculosis and pneumonia. This CT-guided biopsy procedure is particularly challenging and is available at PIMS Hospital in Umarda.

The biopsy was conducted in the presence of Dr. Sanidhya Tank, Dr. Rishabh Agrawal, Dr. Gurmeher Singh Thethi, Dr. Arpit Jauhar, Dr. Abdul Wahab, Dr. Kushal, and technician Giriraj.
