Successful Surgery at Pacific Hospital for Patient Suffering from Squamous Cell Carcinoma on Scalp

Udaipur: The Cancer Surgery Department of Pacific Medical College and Hospital successfully performed an operation to treat a female patient suffering from squamous cell carcinoma on her scalp. This challenging surgery was carried out under the umbrella of the hospital's social initiatives, providing free medical care.

The 32-year-old patient, Jyashree, a resident of South Rajasthan, had been suffering from a wound on her head for the past 5-6 months, which was not healing properly. Despite visiting several healthcare facilities, her condition remained undiagnosed due to the complexity of the disease. Moreover, financial constraints and the absence of a health card made it impossible for her to afford the costly treatment.

Jyashree's family brought her to Pacific Hospital, where Cancer Surgeon Dr. Saurabh Sharma diagnosed her with squamous cell carcinoma of the scalp, which had spread to the skull bone and the upper layer of the brain. The medical team, led by Dr. Saurabh Sharma, along with Neurosurgeon Dr. Narendra Mal, Plastic Surgeon Dr. Gurubhushan, and the Consciousness Department's Dr. Prakash Oudichya, Dr. Vikram, provided their expertise to conduct the successful operation.

Dr. Saurabh Sharma explained that Jyashree had suffered burns on her face, chest, and shoulders during childhood, causing the skin on her shoulder to stick to her neck, leading to the improper development of her hand and a blocked left nostril. These complications had made her prone to seizures. However, the advanced technology and excellent infrastructure at Pacific Medical College and Hospital made the treatment feasible. Jyashree underwent an evacuation through a cyber-optic bronchoscope.

Dr. Sharma further explained that there was a 10 to 15-centimeter wound on Jyashree's head, which had penetrated the skull bone and could have affected her brain as well. To address this, the entire wound and skull bone were removed, followed by reconstruction.

Jyashree received free medical treatment under the social initiatives of the hospital. Her family expressed their gratitude to the Chairman of Pacific Medical College and Hospital, Mr. Rahul Agrawal, for this complimentary healthcare. Jyashree has fully recovered and has been discharged from the hospital.
