Udaipur, It is often said that good health brings all kinds of happiness. However, in today’s fast-paced world, due to changing lifestyles, diabetes has become a widespread epidemic. In light of this growing concern, the entire world is observing World Diabetes Day. As part of this initiative, a workshop on diabetes awareness was organized during the Diabetes Awareness Week at Pacific Medical College & Hospital.
The workshop was inaugurated by PMU Chairman Rahul Agarwal, President Dr. M.M. Mangal, Principal of PMC Dr. U.S. Parihar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Sunita Maheshwari, Head of the Department of Medicine Dr. V.K. Goyal, Dr. Girish Verma, Dr. Jagdish Vishnoi, Dr. Nilesh Patira, and Dr. Virendra Chaudhary. The inauguration took place with the garlanding of the statue of Goddess Saraswati.
During the workshop, Dr. V.K. Goyal, Head of the Department of Medicine, explained the causes, classification, and diagnosis of diabetes, while Dr. Jagdish Vishnoi provided an in-depth discussion on the management and diagnosis of diabetes during pregnancy. Dr. Girish Verma, a professor in the Medicine Department, highlighted the importance of prevention and management of diabetes, emphasizing that control over the disease is only possible through medical advice, regular check-ups, and treatment.
The workshop also featured a panel discussion with specialists including Neurologist Dr. Atulabh Vajpayee, Cardiologist Dr. C.P. Purohit, Nephrologist Dr. Mohit Naredi, and Physician Dr. Shaukat Ali Bohra. They discussed new treatment methods for diabetes, diabetic retinopathy, neurological and cardiometabolic risk factors, and the role of digital health. The panel provided insights into the latest research and treatment approaches, helping participating doctors deliver better care to their patients. The session was moderated by Dr. Ashutosh Soni.
In addition to the workshop, the third edition of the Inter-College Diabetes Quiz Competition was held. Dr. Nilesh Patira and Dr. Sourabh Gupta, Quiz Masters for the event, announced that the RNT Medical College team won first place, followed by the American Medical College team in second place and the PMC team in third. The winning teams were awarded certificates, cash prizes, and medals in recognition of their achievements.
