For timely detection of cancer, regular health check-ups should be done. Cancer can be detected at any age. People without any symptoms should go for age- and gender-appropriate screening tests to detect cancer in the pre-cancerous stage. For example, the average age for colorectal cancer is 50 years of age for regular screening. Women should start screening at age 35 if there is a family history of breast cancer and at age 25 with self-examination. You can do this at an interval of 3 months. Similarly, by screening for each cancer, such as uterine cancer, cervical cancer, oral cancer, lung cancer, you can detect cancer. If cancer is detected at the right time, then in up to 80 percent of cases, cancer patients are completely cured.
