In accordance with the directives of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, Legal Services Day was observed across the country. Following the instructions of the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, Jaipur, and its action plan, a Legal Awareness Camp was organized on Friday in the Sri Ganganagar judicial district on the occasion of "Legal Services Day." The camp was held at Jain ITI, Sri Ganganagar, and was chaired by Shri Gajendra Singh Tenguria, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (Additional District and Sessions Judge).
Addressing the gathering, Shri Tenguria emphasized that the social evils spreading in society act as barriers to national development. He highlighted that social inequalities and the related evils cannot be eradicated unless we address their root causes, which include widespread illiteracy, poverty, and uncontrolled population growth. These issues arise from a lack of education, preventing people from understanding what is beneficial for their well-being.
The Assistant Director of the Department of Child Development, Shri Rajeev Jakhar, provided detailed information on the laws prohibiting child marriage, explaining the harmful consequences of child marriage. He pointed out that child marriage is a social curse and evil that continues to spread in our society, leading to adverse effects on the health of underage boys and girls. He also discussed the legal provisions for action against the responsible parents and other collaborators involved in child marriage.
The program was attended by several dignitaries, including Shri Rajendra Kumar Jain, Founder of Jain Group of Institutions; Mrs. Sudha Palawat, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sri Ganganagar; Shri Rajeev Jakhar, Assistant Director, Child Development Department; Shri Jogendra Kaushik, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Sri Ganganagar; and Shri Rohitash Yadav, Chief LADC.
