Maaheshwari Women's Organization Blends Tradition with Innovation in Festive Celebrations

Bhilwara | Embracing the cultural heritage passed down by our elders, the ancient city of Maaheshwari witnessed a grand celebration organized by the Maaheshwari Women's Organization. The event, held at the temple's courtyard, marked the festivities of Makar Sankranti, Lohri, and Poush Bada. The event was presided over by President Sumitra Bhadada and Secretary Poonam Porwal.

This year, the traditional practices followed by our ancestors during the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti were rejuvenated with innovative twists. The women adorned themselves in traditional attire, participating with enthusiasm. Rituals such as descending stairs for mothers-in-law, waking up the elder daughter-in-law with a cotton bed, tearing the quilt of the elder brother's wife, and various other customs were meticulously performed, blending ancient traditions with modern adaptations.

The Makar Sankranti festivities included time-honored games like Sitolia, Rope Pulling, Kite Flying, and Chair Racing. A delightful group Antakshari competition added a musical note to the celebrations, and the winners were duly honored. After offering the traditional Aloo Bada and Halwa during Poush Bada, the event concluded with relishing a traditional meal featuring Dal Dhokla.

The entire executive committee of the organization was present at the event, which successfully combined the essence of Indian cultural traditions with contemporary innovations.
