Dr. Atul Luhadia, a specialist in TB and chest diseases at Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital, Udaipur, was chosen as a distinguished speaker from Udaipur at the International Chest Conference held at the Bongkoplamonary World Congress in Delhi. He provided crucial information about TB treatment in special situations such as pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and patients with liver and kidney-related diseases.
Dr. Luhadia emphasized the importance of completing the entire course of TB treatment as prescribed by the doctor in any circumstance. He warned against discontinuing treatment midway, as it could exacerbate the complexities of the disease.
For breastfeeding mothers with drug-sensitive TB, he advised continuing breastfeeding while taking treatment and administering TB prevention medication to the child according to the doctor's advice. Patients with liver and kidney-related diseases should make some adjustments to their TB medication regimen if diagnosed with TB.
Additionally, Dr. Luhadia chaired the sessions on allergy and ABPA (allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis) during the conference. He was also appointed as a judge in the best oral paper and e-poster presentation sessions.
