Jaipur, In a special lecture on Defence Journalism organised at the Jaipur National University, School of Media Studies, Special guest Defence PRO, Rajasthan, Col Amitabh Sharma shared his experiences on information security and answered career related questions. The students of Jaipur National University's Seedling School of Law and Hotel Management and many other courses participated in this lecture. After this special session, JNU Chancellor Dr. Sandeep Bakshi said in his message that just as the army is committed to the security of the country, similarly media students should also understand the protection of information by being aware of military related information.
Highlighting the nuances of Defence journalism and Defence based photojournalism, PRO Defence said that while the war is taken care by armed forces but media is responsible to maintain public confidence through information. He cautioned that in many cases it can be dangerous to conduct military operations and release information live or without analysis by Defence experts. He further explained to media students about the correct way to depict nationalism, patriotism, military courage, bravery, valor and sacrifice through photo journalism and during the question-answer session the students of the School of Law were given legal perspective and explained about the prohibitions. On this occasion, Director of School of Media Studies, Prof. Dr. Sachin Batra extended the vote of thanks and conveyed gratitude to JNU Chancellor Dr. Sandeep Bakshi for permitting to organize the event. During the lecture, the HOD of the department Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, Dr. Vinod Soni, Manisha Sharma, Rahul Darji, Yogita Khurana, Debasish Das etc. professors were also present.
