Rajiv Gandhi Youth Camp Emphasizes the Importance of Voting

Udaipur: In accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, a well-organized voter education and participation program, known as SWEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation), was organized on Tuesday at the Sukhadia Rangmanch Hall by the Rajiv Gandhi Youth Camp at the district level in preparation for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections in 2023 in Udaipur district.

Punit Sharma, the Chief Coordinator of SWEEP, spoke to the youth about the importance of voting in a democracy. He stressed that every citizen above the age of 18 should actively participate in the electoral process to ensure their contribution to the development of democracy. Sharma appealed to the youth present at the camp to ensure their names are added to the voter list, as today is the last opportunity for eligible voters. Nearly 600 youths participated in the camp.

In the auditorium, the youth were educated about EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) and VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) machines. A mock poll was conducted to raise awareness about EVMs and VVPATs. Additionally, in the Kherwara legislative constituency area, awareness campaigns were conducted in the minimum voter turnout polling stations, enlightening students and villagers about the functioning of EVMs and VVPATs, and how to use them during elections.
