Proposal for Dam Construction to Address Water Crisis in Vallabhnagar Constituency

Udaipur,  The biggest problem in the Vallabhnagar Assembly constituency has been the scarcity of drinking water. During the summer, hand pumps and tube wells become completely ineffective as the water table drops significantly. Despite spending crores of rupees every year on water transportation, the residents of this area do not receive adequate water supply. This region also has the highest number of livestock, which also suffer from a lack of sufficient water.

To address this issue, during my tenure as an MLA, we proposed the construction of a dam named "Khejdi Naka" and submitted it for approval to the state government. However, the plan could not be approved because a significant portion of the land required for the project belonged to the Forest Department. When we discussed this matter with the headquarters of the Forest Department, they expressed their inability to grant land approval.

Realizing that the "Khejdi Naka" project could not be approved, we then, with the help of the Irrigation Department, selected another site near Kasotia village. This site has the potential to store 100 to 120 MCF of water, which can provide drinking water to approximately 156 to 182 villages. Since this location is at a higher altitude, the water can flow naturally by gravity to the entire area without the need for lifting.

The previous Vasundhara Raje government had allocated a budget for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this project, and the DPR was completed. However, the subsequent Congress government did not pay attention to this project.
