 SPSU :Enthralling and Captivating Sattriya Dance Performance

Promoting cultural and intellectual development of students and contributing to the preservation and promotion of India's cultural heritage Sir Padampat Singhania University, Udaipur, under the visionary guidance of Honourable President and Vice-Chancellor Prof.(Dr.) Padmakali Banerjee organized a classical dance performance, "Sattriya Dance," by renowned artist Dr. Anwesa Mahanta on April 24, 2023, in collaboration with SPIC MACAY. Col(Dr.) Sanjiv Tomar, Pro President, felicitated the distinguished guest. Dr. Anwesa Mahanta is a national award-winning dancer – scholar specializing in Indian Classical Dance. She has received several awards at national and international forums and has been acclaimed as a “star ambassador to represent her art form on a global stage.” Dr. Mahanta captivated the audience with her graceful movements and intricate footwork. The Sattriya dance is a classical dance form that originated in Assam and is known for its devotion to the Hindu god Vishnu. The audience was spellbound by the artistry and the ability of the dancer to convey the emotions and stories behind each dance form. The faculty and students of the University appreciated the mesmerizing performance showcasing the beauty and richness of India's cultural heritage. Dr. DS Chouhan, Spic Macay Coordinator SPSU, coordinated the event.
