67th District-Level Chess Competition Concludes at MDS Public School, Udaipur

The 67th District-level Chess Competition commenced at MDS Public School, Sector-3, Udaipur. The school's trustee inaugurated the event, Mr. Ramesh Chandra Somani, who lit the ceremonial lamp before Goddess Saraswati. The competition ran from September 10 to September 13, 2023, and included participants from various age groups, including 14, 17, and 19-year-olds, representing prestigious schools and institutions from the city.

Today, the closing ceremony of the competition was held at MDAS School, with Mr. Ramesh Chandra Somani, Trustee of MDAS School, as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present included Mrs. Pushpa Somani, Mrs. Monica Joshi, Mr. Rajiv Bharadwaj, Chairman of the District Chess Association (Chess in Lakecity), and Mr. Balvir Singh Patiya, Coordinator for Under 14, along with Mr. Praveen Singh Rathore, Coordinator for Under 17 and 19.

The competition witnessed fierce competition among students in various age groups. In the 14-year-old category, the first position was secured by a student from St. Anthony's, followed by a student from Vivekananda Central School in second place and a student from St. Paul's in third place. In the 14-year-old girls' category, the first position was secured by St. Paul's, followed by St. Anthony's in second place, and St. Mary's Fatehpura in third place.

Among the 17-year-olds, the first position went to a student from MDAS School, with St. Anthony's securing second place and St. Gregorios in third place. In the 17-year-old girls' category, the first position was secured by St. Anthony's, followed by Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya in second place, and MDAS School in third place.

In the 19-year-old category, the first position was secured by a student from St. Paul's, with St. Anthony's in second place and MDAS School in third place. In the 19-year-old girls' category, the first position was secured by MDAS School, followed by Vidya Bhavan in second place, and St. Anthony's.

Several students from this competition have been selected for state-level competitions, including Mitansh Sahu in the 14-year-old category, Vaishali Mishra and Divya Doshi in the 19-year-old category, Bhavya Maheshwari in the 17-year-old category, and Shikhar Karn and Dhairya Chaudhary in the boys' category.

The organizer of the event, Shailendra Somani, expressed that in the upcoming tournaments, international arbiters Rajendra Teli and Vikas Sahu, FIDE arbiter Manish Ji Chandaliya, Senior National Arbiters Bhavesh Pandya, and Richin Jain, Kapil Sahu, Parul Rathore, would provide their services.

Mr. Shailendra Somani, Director of MDAS School, congratulated all the selected participants and wished them a bright future, hoping they continue to succeed in various fields.
