District Conference of Peoples Union for Civil Liberties Elects New Executive

Udaipur , The district Conference of Peoples Union for Civil Liberties was held on 11March, 2023 in the chairmanship of senior journalist Himmat Seth. A new executive committee was elected by the general house . Advocate Arun Vyas was elected the President while senior journalist and Professor of English Dr. Hemendra Singh Chandalia was elected as Vice President. Social activist and economist Yaqub Mohammed was elected General Secretary.Former President Ramesh Nandwana, Advocate Shyam Lal Dangi, Dharam Chand Khair, Nandkishore Sharma, Ashwini Paliwal, Dr.Kirti Joshi and Commander Mansoor Ali were elected members of the executive. Besides these Himmat Seth, Ramesh Nandwana, Shankar lal Chaudhary, Shashi Prabha, Shyam Lal Dangi and Dharm Chand Khair were elected as delegates for the state committee elections to be held in the state conference next month.

Former President Advocate Ramesh Nandwana said that PUCL was founded to safeguard the democratic rights of the people. Due to COVID and other reasons the Udaipur unit of PUCL could not remain very active. It has an illustrious history. now that the attacks on the democratic rights of the people have increased and the fascist forces have become more powerful it is necessary that PUCL should become active and lead the peoples movements in Rajasthan. Arun Vyas said that we should be active and vigilant. Wherever there are atrocities we should work to provide justice to the victims. Ashwini Paliwal ,former general secretary convened the conference. He told that 37 out of 53 members attended the conference. Commander Mansoor Ali expressed his concern on the rise the divisive communal forces. ShashiPrabha advocated the pro active result oriented role of PUCL. Ashok Manthan also expressed the need to make the organization more pro-active.The conference ended with an appeal that maximum number of people should attend the 11th state conference of PUCL being held at Bhilwara on 1st and 2nd April, 2023.
