Inauguration of Vedic Knowledge Week*

With the gracious support of Maharishi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain, the Department of Literature, Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Deemed-to-be-University, and Maharsi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan, the auspicious inauguration of a seven-day Vedic Knowledge Week took place. The event was organized in the auditorium of the Literature Institute, where the President, Honorable Vice-Chancellor Colonel S.S. Sarangdevot, presided over the program. The keynote speaker and special guest was Dr. Upendra Bhargava, Head of the Department of Jyotish (Astrology) and Yoga at the Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University, Ujjain.

The keynote speaker provided insights into the topic of administration in the Vedas, emphasizing that the Vedas are the primary source of Indian philosophical thought, encompassing various subjects such as society, culture, politics, economy, law, education, and more. The Vedas are not just relevant to India but hold significance for the well-being of the entire world, and the education system was developed to disseminate this knowledge globally for the betterment of society.

The Vice-Chancellor shared his thoughts, highlighting that the Indian government, with an intent to expand and promote Vedic education, has accorded a special place to Indian knowledge traditions in the New Education Policy. The aim of the policy is to establish an education system rooted in Indian knowledge and to set a precedent for modern education-oriented nations. Therefore, the study of Vedas should be encouraged and sustained.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Kulshekhar Vyasa, and he introduced the program and presented an overview of its structure, highlighting the institution's activities. Dr. Mahesh Ameta, the program coordinator, mentioned that the Vedic Knowledge Week has been organized for the past three years at the university and will continue in the future. The university plans to invite Vedic scholars periodically for guidance and discussions. The institution remains committed to promoting Vedic studies.

The program featured a display of Vedic ritual paraphernalia, including Vedic yajna utensils and devotional items, inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor and the chief guest. Dignitaries and students were present at the event. The event will span seven days and conclude on August 29.

Distinguished attendees included Prof. Neeraj Sharma, Dr. Surendra Dwivedi, Dr. Yuvraj Singh, Dr. Paras Jain, Vikas Ameta, Tilakesh Ameta, Dr. Vivek Bhatnagar, Dr. Manish Shrimaali, Chain Shakar Dashora, Narayan Paliwal, Shoeb Kureshi, Girindra Mohan Thakur, Kamala Sharma, Dr. Chandresh Chhajlani, Dr. Alakananda Sharma, Indra Singh Ranavat, Ganesh Nagda, along with university staff and prominent citizens of the city.
