The National Sambo Competition held at the Division Sports Complex, Shambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra, from January 26 to 28 witnessed Rajasthan clinching an impressive total of 28 medals. Secretary of Rajasthan, Vikram Parihar, revealed that over 700 athletes from 22 states participated in the competition, where the Rajasthan team showcased exceptional performance, securing 2 gold, 5 silver, and 21 bronze medals.
Rukmani Lohar, Secretary of Udaipur Sambo Association, shared that athletes from Udaipur in Rajasthan displayed outstanding performances. Gold medalist Siddhi, silver medalist Hishita Jain, and bronze medalists Lalita, Virat Singh, and Ali Ajgar Salumbarwala shone in the Junior category (12-14 age group).
In the Cadets category (14-16 age group), Mohit Deyal secured a gold medal, while Praveen Vaishnav, Pawan Suthar, Deepak Kumar Sharma, and Aryan Sharma bagged bronze medals.
For the Youth category (16-18 age group), Bharti Chauhan and Surendra won silver medals, while Ajay Pal Singh, Sachin Meena, Sangram Singh, and Vandana claimed bronze medals.
In the Junior category for those aged 18-21, Dhanvanti Devda secured a silver medal, and Akash Morwal, Narendra Kumar, Pankaj Kohli, and Monika earned bronze medals.
In the Senior 18+ age group, Vikrant Kumar secured a bronze medal. The Rajasthan Runner-up team was coached by Vinod, managed by Prakash Pawar and Mangilal Salvi, who served as the technical officer.
Upon the team's arrival in Rajasthan, the association's Chairman Mahesh Kumawat, President Dr. Ramsvaroop Potlia, and businessman Preetesh Jain, along with Mustafa Salumbarwala, extended a warm welcome to the athletes.
