*Udaipur*: The commencement of the 2024 edition of the Mewar Tourism Cup T-20 cricket tournament is scheduled for March 30th. Matches will be played at the Field Club and Shikarbadi Cricket Ground this year, promising twelve days of exhilarating cricket to the people of Mewar. Sixteen teams are gearing up for day and night matches, set to be played under floodlights, with the final slated for April 10th.
Mr. Vishwa Vijay Singh, Chairman of the Mewar Tourism Cup Organizing Committee, expressed his anticipation for the tournament, stating that only players associated with tourism would participate. Renowned hotels from Udaipur will be partnering in this competition.
According to Mr. Yaduraj Singh Krishnavat, the event secretary, this tournament is not just about cricket but also celebrates the community's sentiments and local heritage, involving participants from various sectors of the tourism industry such as hoteliers, guides, event organizers, and handicraft shopkeepers. Similar to the IPL, players will don colorful attire, adding vibrancy to the matches. The tournament will feature white-ball cricket, with three matches scheduled each day.
He further added that amidst enthusiastic spectators under the floodlights, players will not only showcase their cricketing prowess but also share Mewar's cultural richness through traditional presentations and delectable cuisines. The objective behind organizing the event is to promote Udaipur tourism, bringing people together on one platform and attracting tourist attention.
