Awareness Needed Among the Public for the Protection of Human Rights - Justice Jhala

Udaipur: The Law Department of B.N. University, Udaipur, organized a two-day national seminar on April 27, 2024, on the topic "Challenges in the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights in India." A total of 105 participants from various renowned universities, colleges, and organizations across different states of the country attended the seminar. The event comprised four sessions, including two technical sessions. In the inaugural session, Justice Ramchandra Singh Jhala, Chairman of the Rajasthan Human Rights Commission, and Praveen Varma, Additional District and Sessions Judge, inaugurated the seminar. Dr. Ashutosh Pitaliya, the host, welcomed the guests.

In his presidential address, Justice Jhala shed light on the establishment and significance of human rights commissions and explained the process of resolving complaints received by these commissions. Special guest Praveen Varma elucidated the role of the judiciary in safeguarding human rights. The Acting Vice President of the Vidya Pracharini Sabha, Colonel Shiv Singh Sarangdevot, highlighted the importance of efforts made since ancient times to protect human rights in India, as mentioned in the Vedas. Secretary of the Vidya Pracharini Sabha, Professor Mahendrasingh Rathore, emphasized the importance of reaching justice to every individual in society.

Management Director Mohabbat Singh Rathore encouraged the organization of such comprehensive events from time to time. Executive members Dr. Yuvraj Singh Bemla and Advocate Kamleshwar Singh Kachher, along with deans and directors of various university departments, were also present. The first technical session, conducted offline, saw 31 participants presenting their research papers on various dimensions of human rights. Dr. Anuradha Tiwari, Principal of N. Katju Law College, Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, and Dr. Vivek Nagar, Principal of Gyan Mandir Law College, Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, participated as resource persons. The second technical session, conducted online, witnessed 70 participants presenting their research papers on different dimensions of human rights. Dr. Satish Nagar, Assistant Professor, Godhra Law College, Gujarat, and Dr. Shiv Dayal Vyas, Principal of Maharana Pratap Law College, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, participated as resource persons. The closing session had Professor R.L. Bhatt and Satish Chandra Joshi as chief guests. Dr. Anila expressed gratitude to all, and Dr. Kiran Chauhan conducted the program. Members of the department, including Dr. Shekha Nagori, Dr. Pushplata Dangi, and Piyush Chavhan, were present.
