###Udaipur to Inaugurate Butterfly Park on Monday

**Udaipur,  The City of Lakes, known for its natural beauty, will receive a unique gift on Monday with the inauguration of a one-of-a-kind Butterfly Park. The special feature of this park is the presence of a unique butterfly species found exclusively in this park in all of India. This distinction is expected to attract butterfly enthusiasts from around the world.

Deputy Conservator of Forests Ajay Chittoda announced that the inauguration ceremony, scheduled for Monday evening, will be graced by the Chief Guest, Assam Governor Honorable Gulab Chand Kataria, and presided over by the Minister of Forest, Environment, and Climate Change, Sanjay Sharma. Located in Amberi, this 5-hectare park has been established at a cost of 5 million rupees and promises to be a unique attraction for both locals and tourists from around the globe.

**Zebra Skipper: The Unique Attraction**
Mukesh Panwar, a butterfly expert from Sagwara in Dungarpur district who played a crucial role in the creation of this Butterfly Park, shared that the park's most distinctive feature is the presence of the Zebra Skipper butterfly. Scientifically known as Eranista zebra, this butterfly's life cycle—including egg, larva, pupa, and nectar plants—was first documented in a research paper published in Bionaut in December 2023.

The Zebra Skipper lays its eggs on the plant Melhania futteporensis, a species listed as endangered. This plant has been found in the Butterfly Park, making it an ideal habitat for this rare butterfly.

**Discovery by Panwar**
The Zebra Skipper was discovered in India in 2020 by Mukesh Panwar in Sagwara, Dungarpur. Initially identified as Spialia zebra, it has since been renamed. This butterfly can be observed in the park from August to December, making it the first Butterfly Park in India where this species can be seen.

This new Butterfly Park in Udaipur is set to become a significant point of interest for nature lovers and researchers, enhancing the city's reputation as a destination for biodiversity and natural beauty.
