Purpose of Life is to Awaken Eternal Love for Krishna

At the Krishna Janmashtami Grand Festival held at Gayatri Garden on College Road, the ISKCON center hosted an enchanting event. Abhay Gaurang Das Prabhu and Ujjwal Prabhu captivated the attendees, compelling them to dance with joy even amidst rain and drizzles well into the night.

During the religious discourse, Abhay Gaurang Das emphasized that the primary purpose of our lives is to awaken our eternal love for Yogeshwar Sri Krishna. He explained that once we start serving Him selflessly and engaging in satsang, this love will gradually flourish.

He described Lord Krishna as being complete in all sixteen divine qualities: compassion, patience, forgiveness, justice, impartiality, detachment, penance, firm resolve, generosity, beauty, expertise in dance, music, adherence to principles, truthfulness, omniscience, and supreme control.

Krishna's life, he stated, represents a fully realized existence. Janmashtami is a festival meant to awaken spiritual bliss and strength within us. It is a celebration to immerse oneself in the essence of Krishna.

Abhay Gaurang Das recounted various episodes from Krishna's life, such as His divine dance on Kaliya's hoods, His meal with Vidurani, lifting the Govardhan Hill, and His strategic interventions in the Mahabharata. He highlighted Krishna's roles in overcoming challenges, such as His confrontation with Duryodhana and His support for Arjuna as his charioteer in the great war, demonstrating Krishna's diverse aspects of dharma and friendship.

He noted that the residents of Vrindavan cherished Krishna's childhood form and the pastimes with the gopis. Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu saw Krishna as an embodiment of divine essence, and different people perceive Krishna through various lenses based on their spiritual practices.

Abhay Gaurang Das emphasized the significance of Janmashtami, calling it the 'king of fasts,' and asserted that observing this fast with devotion can fulfill all worldly and spiritual desires. He described Krishna's leelas as sources of new inspiration, representing divine attributes and values through different figures in Krishna's life, such as Devaki, Vasudev, Arjuna, Bhishma, and others.

He encouraged the practice of the Hare Krishna mantra—"Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Ram Hare Ram, Ram Ram Hare Hare"—as a means to develop selfless devotion and attain happiness.

During the Janmashtami festival, the devotees were immersed in Krishna's divine nectar and devotional joy, dancing until late into the night. The cultural program featured children dressed as Radha and Krishna, performing bhajans and devotional songs, which brought the hall alive with applause. The gopis also performed dances in traditional attire, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The event began with a divine abhishek (ritual bathing) of Lord Yogeshwar, special decorations, and offerings led by Nimai Prabhu. Following this, various ceremonies such as Tulsi Aarti, Gaur Aarti, and Narasimha Aarti were performed. The hall was decorated with flowers by a dedicated team, creating a festive ambiance reminiscent of a grand fair, complete with decorated mandaps and a vibrant atmosphere.

Special thanks were given to various volunteers, including Vibhha Bhatt, Chandrakanta, Pallavi, Kripali, Rachna Vyas, Himani Pathak, and others for their contributions to the decoration and organization of the event.
