Udaipur SP Goyal Chairs Meeting on School Transport Coordination Committee

Udaipur,  A meeting of the District School Transport Coordination Committee was held on Thursday at the Collectorate Auditorium, presided over by District Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogesh Goyal, with Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Nemichand Parikh in attendance. The meeting saw participation from various departmental officials and representatives from prominent schools in the city.

The session began with a welcome address by Additional Regional Transport Officer Manish Kumar Sharma and District Transport Officer Atul Kumar Sharma, who provided detailed information on the Supreme Court-mandated guidelines for school transport issued in 2017. SP Goyal emphasized the importance of adhering to these guidelines, given their critical impact on children's safety, and directed all schools to ensure strict compliance.

SP Goyal urged school management and parents to coordinate effectively to ensure the best possible arrangements for students. He assured that any issues arising would be addressed with the support of police and administration. RTO Parikh stressed that compliance with school transport guidelines is mandatory for all institutions and announced plans for a training workshop for drivers and conductors. He also requested that full adherence to the guidelines be ensured before the next meeting.

Assistant SP Umesh Ojha called for increased awareness among parents regarding the risks associated with unauthorized and unsafe vehicles used for transporting children. He suggested a joint campaign by the police and transport departments to address these issues. The meeting also included discussions on ensuring that schools monitor two-wheeler usage and helmet adherence among students, with police officers highlighting the need for educational institutions to enforce these rules.

In addition, SP Goyal instructed that eye and health check-ups be conducted for all school transport drivers and conductors. RTO Parikh mentioned coordinating with the health department to organize a camp within a week for these checks.

Additional directives included:

Appointment of traffic coordinators in all schools within 7 days.

Formation of Road Safety Clubs in each school, including parents.

Preparation of transport data for every child arriving at school.

Maintenance of records for children arriving by private vans and autos, including details of vehicle drivers.

Health checks and police verification for school transport drivers, with the issuance of identification cards.

Installation of CCTV cameras for monitoring within and around school premises.

Continuous oversight of activities around school premises and reporting of any undesirable actions.
