Jaipur-Udaipur, The three-day photography workshop kicked off at Krishnayan Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur, on Friday. Jointly organized by the West Zone Cultural Centre (Udaipur), North Zone Cultural Centre (Patiala), and Delphic Council of Rajasthan, it is part of the ongoing 'Sur Taal' event.
The workshop was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony by Arijit Banerjee, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and photography enthusiast, Additional Chief Secretary of PWD, Sandeep Verma, Director of West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur, Furkan Khan, and renowned portrait artist and advertising photographer, Shirish R. Karale. The dignitaries were welcomed with a shawl and a plant.
Arijit Banerjee emphasized the importance of capturing good photos before focusing on editing or filters. "Editing and filters come later. First, one must know how to shoot great photos, as only a good photo can be enhanced, not a poor one. All these techniques will be taught in this workshop," he said while sharing his own photography journey.
Shreya Guha, Senior IAS Officer and Chairperson of Delphic Council of Rajasthan, highlighted Banerjee’s expertise in wildlife photography. Sandeep Verma also shared his experience with photography before sketching, while Shirish R. Karale, a celebrity photographer, discussed the nuances of portrait photography. He assured participants that learning from experts like Banerjee and Karale would set them on the path to becoming excellent photographers.
Karale explained, "Photography is an art that cannot be done mindlessly. You must have a clear idea of the shot and the surroundings and observe carefully before taking a photo. Visualization of the shot in your mind is key." He added that many more techniques would be taught during the workshop.
The event was graced by the presence of Shreya Guha, Rahul Sood from the Delphic Council of Rajasthan, and Kirti among others. The vote of thanks was delivered by Shipra Sharma.
