Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma Embarks on Foreign Investment Mission for 'Rising Rajasthan' Global Summit

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma departed from Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Sunday evening, heading to Seoul, South Korea. This marks his first overseas trip to South Korea and Japan since assuming office. Accompanying him is a high-level delegation including Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Baairwa, Chief Secretary Shikhar Agarwal, Principal Secretary of the Industries Department Ajitabh Sharma, and other senior officials. The delegation will be traveling from September 9 to 14.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sharma, this high-level delegation will be promoting the 'Rising Rajasthan' Global Investment Summit 2024, scheduled to be held in Jaipur from December 9 to 11. The mission aims to attract foreign investors and engage with the diaspora about investing in their homeland. During the trip, the Chief Minister is set to participate in investor meetings across several cities in South Korea and Japan, where he will discuss investment opportunities with representatives of global companies and business groups.

Following the trip to South Korea and Japan, Chief Minister Sharma is also scheduled to visit London, according to reliable sources.

Once considered a less attractive investment destination due to inadequate infrastructure, particularly in water and electricity, and a non-investor-friendly environment, Rajasthan has seen significant industrial growth in recent decades. The state’s conditions have improved, attracting major investors. For instance, Neemrana, near the capital Delhi, has become a hub for foreign investments, with several Japanese and other foreign industrial units established there.

Rajasthan, rich in minerals and stone industries, is now advancing into new sectors like solar energy, petroleum-based industries, agriculture, and dairy, showing promising innovations. The state's tourism sector remains a cornerstone of its economic progress, with ongoing efforts to develop heritage sites and unexplored areas. The under-construction oil refinery in Barmer is poised to open new avenues for development in western Rajasthan, generating employment and boosting state revenue. With significant reserves of crude oil, gas, and fresh water, these resources are expected to play a vital role in the state’s comprehensive development.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Industries Minister Colonel Raj Vardhan Singh Rathore are advancing with a vision that suggests a promising influx of domestic and international investors in the coming years. Experts believe that it is crucial to follow up on new investment proposals effectively and implement them on the ground to ensure the success of the initiatives, unlike previous summits.

It remains to be seen how the state government will leverage the upcoming summit to benefit the state and address its developmental needs.
