Library Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm as Part of the 'Prakhar Rajasthan Reading Campaign'

Banswara,  The Library Day was celebrated with great fervor today at the Government Higher Secondary School in Amrathun, under the leadership of Library Head Hitesh Kumar Ninama. This event was part of the 'Prakhar Rajasthan Reading Campaign,' launched by the state government from September 9 to October 2, aimed at improving reading fluency among school children.

Focus on Reading Fluency

According to School Principal Arun Vyas, the initiative involves a daily reading practice during the seventh period in government schools, especially in tribal areas, to enhance students' reading and pronunciation skills. The goal is to correct common mispronunciations and ensure accurate writing, addressing issues where students often mispronounce and misspell words.

'Read-A-Thon' and Reading Skills Development

The campaign includes a 'Read-A-Thon' segment, teaching students to read fluently and articulate words correctly. From September 9 to October 2, government schools will focus on these activities during the seventh period daily. The campaign aims to benefit approximately 8 million children across 65,000 schools in the state.

Promoting Cultural and Knowledge Development

The campaign is designed to boost students' confidence and instill a sense of good values and knowledge. Senior Hindi teacher Khushpal Katara emphasized the importance of teaching grammar effectively to aid fluent reading. He believes this innovative approach will yield remarkable results in education.

Activities and Events

Various activities will be held during the campaign, including:

September 9: Launch of the 'Read-A-Thon' during the seventh period.

September 10: Library Day with book distributions to parents, representatives, teachers, and students.

September 14: Hindi Day celebrations, with activities including poetry and story readings.

September 23-28: Continued reading practices under 'Read-A-Thon.'

September 29-October 2: Final phase of 'Read-A-Thon,' including storytelling by teachers and students.

The campaign will feature a range of events, including the celebration of Hindi Day, local language storytelling, and a 'Nipun Mela' (skill fair). The goal is to foster reading skills and cultural exchange among students.

Campaign Launch and Poster Unveiling

During today's event, Principal Arun Vyas unveiled the poster for the 'Prakhar Rajasthan Reading Campaign.' The ceremony featured students reading fluently, delighting parents and receiving commendations from educators for their contributions.

Addressing Reading Challenges

The campaign also targets improving reading skills for students from grades 1 to 8, addressing the issue where many students struggle with reading proficiency. The initiative aims to ensure that students are well-prepared for higher classes and to support their academic progress.

The event was attended by various educators and stakeholders, including Nasir Ali Ansari, Kapil Verma, Dilip Kumar Meena, Parvat Singh, Harishankar, Bherulal Dodyar, and others. The ceremony was conducted by Khushpal Katara and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dayashankar Charpota.
