Udaipur . A 7-day book fair will be held at the Information Center from Friday, September 20, under the auspices of the National Book Trust of India, New Delhi, and the Information and Public Relations Office, Udaipur. The fair will be inaugurated by District Collector Arvind Kumar Poswal at 12 PM on Friday.
Mukesh Kumar, Assistant Director of NBT, stated that during this week-long book exhibition, various creative activities for children will be organized, including storytelling, caricature, calligraphy workshops, origami, theater workshops, Vedic mathematics, mandala art workshops, bookmark creation, book cover design, and an art competition. The NBT conducts book exhibitions and fairs across the country to promote reading culture, and this book fair in Udaipur is part of that initiative. Additionally, it includes participation in the World Book Fair, the largest book fair globally, scheduled to take place in New Delhi from February 1 to 9, 2025.
The Udaipur book exhibition will feature Hindi, English, Rajasthani, Urdu, and other Indian language books published by the National Book Trust, India. There will be picture books, children's novels, plays, and stories for young readers, as well as self-help, personal development, science, biographies of great personalities, and a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles for adult readers.
Dr. Kamlesh Sharma, Joint Director of the Information and Public Relations Department, mentioned that ongoing efforts are being made to develop the Information Center at the Udaipur divisional headquarters as a rich resource center for enlightened readers and students. This book fair will display over 2,000 books on literature, art, culture, general knowledge, and children's literature, available for purchase by interested readers. He noted that the fair would be beneficial for the city's residents, book lovers, and individuals connected to the literary world.
