A 5-year-old girl suffering from breathlessness since childhood underwent a successful heart surgery by Dr. Vineet Chawla. Despite years of consultations with doctors in Kota, the child found no relief. An echocardiogram at Kota Heart revealed multiple solid masses on the heart valves, along with leaks in both the mitral and tricuspid valves.
Dr. Chawla informed the family about the need for surgery and the associated risks, proceeding with the operation on September 5. He reported that during the surgery, several spherical, solid masses were removed, and one valve had to be replaced. The procedure was complex, as extracting such masses completely is a challenging task. The masses were sent for biopsy, which confirmed a diagnosis of fibrolastoma, a condition rarely reported in Rajasthan.
Dr. Rakesh Jindal, director of Kota Heart Hospital, stated that this condition is extremely rare, and many children do not reach the hospital in time for surgery. Dr. Chawla confirmed that the girl is now fully healthy.
