Kota – The first general assembly of the Greater Kota Press Club was successfully held at Ummed Club, Nayapura, where a report of past activities was presented along with a financial statement. Under the leadership of President Sunil Mathur, several significant decisions were made. Pawan Ahuja and journalist Pranav Vijay announced the allocation of a room in the club's new building. Additionally, it was declared that a journalist would be honored annually for their writing, an initiative led by Pawan Ahuja in memory of his late father, Chaman Lal Ahuja.
In his opening address, President Sunil Mathur highlighted the club's achievements over the past year, including acquiring a large plot of land, a visit to Delhi facilitated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and the establishment of a temporary building in the vegetable market. He also mentioned efforts made to secure residential plots for journalists through meetings with former Urban Development Minister Shanti Dhariwal. Mathur discussed plans for collaborations with Jaipur's Pink City for accommodation arrangements and ensuring proper setups in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai.
General Secretary Anil Bhardwaj presented a report detailing various activities held throughout the year, including a poetry conference, and assured that no unnecessary expenses had been incurred from the club's funds. He announced a new membership opening for prospective members, with a fee set at ₹1,500. Treasurer Badri Prasad Gautam provided a financial overview, stating that the club is working to address journalists' concerns on appropriate platforms. The office secretary also announced the arrangement of a computer for the club.
### Suggestions to Enhance the Press Club
Members provided several suggestions to advance the Greater Kota Press Club. Kishan Ratanani proposed awarding special stories with an Enval Award and called for efforts to secure a PIB Director position in Kota. Nilesh Sharma emphasized the need for accommodation arrangements for journalists in other cities, while Neeraj Gupta suggested organizing events to strengthen financial stability. Dheeraj Gupta Tej stressed the importance of not accepting unnecessary memberships and proposed forming a scrutiny committee. Rajesh Jain called for workshops for young journalists, and Radha Rajora advocated for increasing the number of female journalists. The executive committee will consider these suggestions for implementation.
### Recognition of Senior Journalists
During the event, senior journalists Bhavwar Singh Solanki, Ram Swaroop Joshi, Dr. Prabhat Singhal, and Dada Kamal Singh Gehlot were honored. Subodh Jain was recognized for fasting for ten days during the Dashalakshana festival, receiving garlands, a turban, and a shawl in appreciation. A moment of silence was observed to pay tribute to deceased journalists. The assembly expressed gratitude to various supporters, including Allen Career Institute, Hotel Federation, and the Tourism Department PIB.
Notable attendees included patron Pawan Ahuja, Dheeraj Gupta Tej, Kayyum Ali, K.L. Jain, Shyam Rohida, Subodh Jain, Vice President Harimohan Sharma, Joint Secretary Chandra Prakash Chandu, and several senior and young journalists. The program concluded with the national anthem.
