Udaipur : On the occasion of World Animal Day, District Collector Arvind Poswal unveiled a pamphlet published by the Government Animal Husbandry Training Institute, focusing on animal welfare, enhancement, and conservation. The Collector urged the public to take initiatives to prevent cruelty towards animals and to engage in advanced animal husbandry for their livelihoods.
Dr. Surendra Changani, Deputy Director of the institute, explained that the purpose of celebrating World Animal Day is to inspire the public to promote the welfare, enhancement, protection, and development of animals. Present at the event were Dr. Sharad Arora, Additional Director of the department, as well as senior veterinary officers Dr. Padma Meel, Dr. Suresh Sharma, and Dr. Rajkishor Bansal.
In a technical session held at the institute, Dr. Changani noted that while the average daily availability of milk per person in the country is 459 grams, the state boasts an impressive 1,138 grams per person per day. He highlighted that animal husbandry contributes 13.44 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Dr. Changani emphasized that the state has abundant resources in the form of livestock and called for maximizing their utilization to increase production per animal.
On this occasion, senior veterinary officers Dr. Padma Meel and Dr. Suresh Sharma also shared valuable insights. Students from the Animal Husbandry Diploma program distributed pamphlets in various areas including Gulab Bagh, Fateh Sagar, Sukhadia Circle, Chetak Circle, and Hathipole, urging the public to support animal welfare initiatives.
