Palace on Wheels Embarks on Its Third Journey This Tourist Season

New Delhi: Bhagat Singh Lohagarh, Managing Director of O&M Company, which operates the super-luxury train Palace on Wheels, has announced that several innovative proposals are being considered to enhance the popularity of this royal train.

Lohagarh provided this information while welcoming domestic and international travelers with a red carpet as the train departed for its third journey of this tourist season from Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi.

He noted that Palace on Wheels was awarded first place in this year’s Condé Nast Luxury Train Survey, earning the title of the world's best luxury tourist train.

On this occasion, Pradeep Bohra, Director of Palace on Wheels (O&M Company), mentioned that 42 passengers are currently traveling on this royal train, with a group of 25 joining from Jaipur.

Bohra also stated that under the direction and supervision of the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), world-class amenities with additional decorations have been developed on the royal luxury train, which tourists have greatly appreciated. The train departs from New Delhi on Wednesdays, traveling through Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Bharatpur before taking tourists to Agra, home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and returning them to New Delhi.

The event was also attended by Gaurav Gupta, Founder President of the Global Business and Technology Council (India), and advisor Gopendra Nath Bhatt.

It is noteworthy that this royal train has been operated as a joint venture between Indian Railways and the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) since 1982 on broad gauge tracks; it previously operated on meter gauge. According to RTDC’s Managing Director, Sushma Arora, the Palace on Wheels is recognized as one of the world’s oldest heritage trains and one of the best luxury tourist trains globally. Arora explains that this royal train is a prestigious project under the joint venture with Indian Railways, offering tourists five-star amenities and an unforgettable royal hospitality experience. For the past 42 years, Palace on Wheels has been recognized as a cultural ambassador for Rajasthan and India, and this year’s accolade from the Condé Nast Luxury Train Survey not only enhances Rajasthan's reputation but also brings pride to India as a whole.
