SPECIAL SAILING EXPEDITION-2024 : ‘BHARTIYA  NADIYAAN, SANSKRTIYON  KI JANNI‘

Jaipur:  Special Sailing Expedition is being organized as the flagship event of RDC 2025 Under the aegis of HQ DNCC . The expedition is being organized in two tranches of Riverine  & Coastal Expedition,culminating in a Grand Ceremonial Flag – in by our Honourable Prime Minister on 28 Jan 2025. Maj Gen Jagdeep Singh Cheema  ADG Punjab Haryana Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh(PHHP&C) Directorate flagged off the second leg of the riverine expedition from Prayagraj on 06 Nov 2024.

            Maj Gen Rajesh Bhatt GOC Purva UP & MP Sub Area, Maj Gen Sunil Sheoran Sena Medal GOC 4 Div graced the occasion held at Boat Club Prayagraj. Maj Gen Cheema congratulated the NCC cadets of the three directorates, namely PHHP&C, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. He appraised the NCC cadets participating in the expedition about the challenges of sailing in River Ganga and cautioned them on safety aspects. He exhorted on them to spread the importance of conservation of rivers and water resources. Cadets also presented a cultural programme to spead the message of  the expedition.The SSE is being  conducted from Kanpur to Kolkata and  involves sailing along the entire stretch of river Ganges using wind for propulsion. It further sails to Varanasi,Buxar, Patna,Farakka and finally reaches Kolkata on 20 Dec 2024.

            Second leg of expedition ends at Varanasi on 11November. Both male and female cadets will participating in equal numbers. All 17 Directorates under HQDGNCC will participate in both the riverine as well the coastal segment of SSE . From UP Directorate, 72 cadets are participating in sailing from Kanpur to  Buxar comprising 144 cadets & staff of 7 Directorates. The sailing cadets presented a colourful cultural program before setting sail.‘O re Nadiya , O re Nadiya tu kahaan se aayi re’ a soulfully presented song by NCC cadets of Uttar Pradesh was a tribute to river Ganga and all rivers and regaled the audience.An energetic Bhangra performance by Punjab Haryana Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh NCC charged up the atmosphere. The well researched and aptly presented commentary by the young cadets reminded everyone of our vibrant cultural heritage and how our great rivers have contributed to this heritage. Semi-classical dance performance

            showcased how the finesse of our our art forms have transcended barriers of language, region and time to reach us in refined and classic form in present day. This was followed by Ghoomar which was presented on the greens of Boat Club by Rajasthan NCC group. A peppy medley of Rajasthani folk songs was accompanied by resounding clapping by the gathering.
