BJP Confident of Winning All Seven Seats in Rajasthan by-Elections

As the by-election dates for the seven assembly seats in Rajasthan approach, political campaigns have gained momentum, with parties like the BJP, Congress, and regional groups asserting their claims of victory. In reality, the BJP has taken the lead in election campaigning, with its strategies being the most well-organized.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal has already toured all seven constituencies once and is now on his second round of campaigning for the by-elections. He has thrown the full weight of his government behind this effort. Following the BJP's loss of 11 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, CM Sharma has made these by-elections a matter of personal prestige. Although the outcome of these by-elections will not affect the ruling government's stability—since it already enjoys a majority—the elections are being held due to the deaths of two sitting MLAs and the election of five others as MPs.

The BJP previously held just one seat, in Salumber, but the passing of MLA Amritlal Meena has left the party with an opportunity to win additional seats. Any seat won beyond Salumber would be considered a bonus. On the other hand, Congress faces the challenge of retaining its four seats, while regional parties like the RLP and the Indian Tribal Party (BAP) are working to hold on to their one seat each.

Initially, there were concerns that the BJP might struggle to retain its single seat in Salumber, but as the campaign has progressed, it appears that the BJP is benefiting from being the ruling party in the state. Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong appeal is helping to link the central and state BJP governments, showing tangible results. There is a prevailing belief that the ruling party often gains an advantage in by-elections due to the government's involvement in developmental work. Political analysts suggest that the BJP has gained a significant lead in most of the seven seats in Rajasthan, except for the Chaurasi and Jhunjhunu seats.

The BJP is confident of winning in Salumber, as well as in Dausa, Dungarpur's Chaurasi, Tonk's Uniyara Devli, Alwar's Ramgarh, Nagaur's Khimsar, and Jhunjhunu. However, some political observers believe that winning in Chaurasi, Jhunjhunu, and Khimsar will be challenging for the BJP. Additionally, while the BJP may benefit from sympathy in Salumber, similar advantages might also work for Congress in Ramgarh, especially if the party manages to consolidate its Hindu vote base.

Congress's campaign has generated much discussion in political circles. Aside from state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra, two major leaders—former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Deputy CM Sachin Pilot—are currently on tours to Maharashtra and Jharkhand. They are expected to become active in Rajasthan from Friday. Currently, the Congress campaign is largely relying on local leaders to carry the momentum.

Regional party leaders, Hanuman Beniwal and Rajkumar Raut, have also mobilized their full efforts for the elections.

Despite these challenges, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and state BJP President Madan Rathore, along with the entire BJP, are filled with confidence and hope for victory across all seven seats. It remains to be seen who will ultimately emerge victorious in this crucial political battle in Rajasthan.
