Negligence by Ambulance and Hospital Claims Mother’s Life in Kota

Kota, A tragic incident of negligence by ambulance services and a hospital has come to light in Kota, where a grieving son has alleged that the lack of proper facilities and accountability led to his mother’s untimely demise.

Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO), Dr. Jagdish Soni, stated that his department oversees only the 60 government ambulances under its purview. However, there are no government directives for monitoring private ambulances.

Passing the Buck Among Authorities
When contacted, District Transport Officer (DTO), Mr. Surendra Singh, clarified that their responsibility is limited to conducting fitness checks. Complaints are referred to the CMHO for further action. He assured that this specific complaint would be addressed, and updates would be provided.

Private Ambulance Services: A Nexus of Agents and Hospitals
The victim’s son alleged that private ambulance services are largely controlled by agents and private hospitals, operating without any checks. While patients are promised ambulances equipped with oxygen and ventilators, in reality, these critical facilities are often either missing or non-functional, leading to life-threatening delays and complications.

Exorbitant Charges Without Transparency
Ambulance operators charge arbitrary fees, with no fixed rate chart in place. Families in desperate situations are often exploited. While the DTO provided a rate chart, the general public remains unaware, leaving them vulnerable to such exploitation.

A Call for Action
The grieving son appealed to the public, saying, “I lost my mother, but if raising our voices against this negligence can save even one life, this fight will be worthwhile.”

This incident underscores the urgent need for greater accountability in ambulance services and hospitals. It is imperative for authorities and the public to take collective action to prevent further tragedies.
