Make a Mark at the 43rd India International Trade Fair
New Delhi, At the ongoing 14-day 43rd India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, products crafted by the Kalayani Self-Help Group from Pal Village, Jodhpur, have made a significant impact, showcasing a powerful example of women empowerment.
Visitors to the fair, particularly women, are engaging with the group’s stalls, interacting with the women to learn about their journey towards self-reliance through their skills. People are fascinated by the inspiring stories of these women, who have created jobs for thousands of others through their determination and hard work.
The women shared how, through their dedication, innovation, and resilience, they have turned the proverbial "rags to riches" story into a reality.
Jaipuri Quilts a Big Hit Among Buyers
Jaipuri quilts are proving to be a favorite among buyers at the Rajasthan Pavilion, thanks to their lightweight, softness, and warmth. Abdul Rauf, the stall operator, explained that quilt-making is a hereditary profession passed down through generations of weavers in Rajasthan.
Rauf mentioned that high-quality, pure cotton is used to make these quilts, which are then designed in modern and traditional Rajasthani styles. The quilts are available in various shapes and sizes, catering to different customer preferences. Rauf also highlighted that quilts with fiber filling and Banarasi zari borders featuring beautiful floral patterns and rich colors are also popular among buyers.
Additionally, Jaipuri double-bed quilts made with traditional Sanganeri hand-block prints on pure Rajasthani cotton are also being showcased and have received much appreciation from visitors.
Rajasthan’s Famous Bandhej Sarees and Lac Jewelry Draw Attention
Inside the Rajasthan Pavilion, saree and dupatta stalls were bustling with activity as women shoppers made several purchases. Anju, a vendor from Kailasar village in Churu district, shared that Rajasthan's Bandhej sarees and dupattas are in high demand among women at the fair.
Similarly, Mobita, a vendor from Dabla village in Bundi district, revealed that her products, including bangles, bracelets, and necklaces made from lac, are also selling very well. The traditional craftsmanship and distinctive designs are attracting a lot of attention at the fair.
