He elaborated that NEP 2020 is built on five key pillars: access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability, and aims to prepare youth to face both current and future global challenges.

Dr. Srivastava highlighted the key aspects of NEP 2020:

  • Moving towards multidisciplinary and holistic education.
  • Institutional autonomy.
  • Promotion of research through the establishment of the National Research Foundation.
  • Continuous professional development for teachers.
  • Internationalization of higher education.

He pointed out that the policy’s impact will be long-term and that it has the potential to position India as a global center for skilled manpower in the ‘Amrit Kaal’ (Golden Era). He emphasized the need for collective efforts from the central and state governments, higher educational institutions, and all relevant stakeholders for the successful implementation of the policy.
