Maharashtra's Lavani Dance: A Fusion of Beauty and Rhythm

Lavani dance is an integral part of Maharashtra's folk theater style, Tamasha. The word 'Lavani' is derived from 'Lavanya,' meaning beauty or grace. It is said that the name originated from the Marathi word 'Lavan,' meaning salt, just as food without salt is incomplete, so is dance without Lavani. In this dance, performers wear a 9-meter-long sari.
