Udaipur: The 18th grand convocation ceremony of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, will be held on 21st December (Saturday) at 10:45 AM in the Vivekanand Auditorium on the university campus. The ceremony will be presided over by the Hon'ble Governor of Rajasthan and Chancellor, Shri Haribhai Bagde. The convocation address will be delivered by the renowned scientist and former Vice-Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Dr. Amarnath Mukhopadhyay.
In a press conference on Friday, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, shared details about the ceremony. He informed that a total of 1181 students, including 790 male and 391 female students, will receive their degrees from the Chancellor and Governor, Shri Haribhai Bagde. In addition, 938 undergraduate, 181 postgraduate, and 62 PhD candidates from the academic year 2023-24 will be awarded degrees. Furthermore, 42 outstanding students from various faculties will receive medals. Of these medal winners, 24 are female students (57%) and 18 are male students.
Dr. Karnataka mentioned that on Saturday morning, the Hon'ble Governor will arrive at the Vivekanand Auditorium, located in front of the Dairy and Food Technology College on the university campus, where NCC cadets will give him a guard of honor. After being welcomed by senior officials, the Governor will join the academic procession and enter the auditorium, where the ceremony will begin with the national anthem. Following the Chancellor's inaugural speech, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, will present the university’s annual report. As part of the ceremony, two publications highlighting the university's achievements over the past two years and motivational speeches by leadership will be released by the Hon'ble Governor. Afterward, Dr. Amarnath Mukhopadhyay will deliver the convocation address, and the Governor will provide his presidential address. The event will officially conclude with the Governor’s declaration.
The preparations for the convocation ceremony have been finalized under the guidance of Shri Sudhanshu Singh, University Secretary, Dr. Lokesh Gupta, Event Coordinator and Dean of the Dairy & Food Technology College, and Dr. Ram Hari Meena, Controller of Examinations.
**Innovations for This Year’s Convocation Ceremony**
- For the first time, the Chancellor’s Medal will be presented in a beautifully crafted, unique frame.
- Each student will receive their degree in an attractive flap cover.
- The degree certificates will feature a barcode that allows for scanning to retrieve complete student information.
- A special university code will be printed on the degree to verify its authenticity.
- The degrees of gold medal-winning students will have gold lettering embossed on them, adding an elegant touch.
- In keeping with simplicity and uniformity, all students and faculty will wear white or cream-colored attire (dress code) for the ceremony.
- Students from all affiliated colleges of the university will wear distinct colored badges and scarves to identify their college affiliations.
- The ceremony will commence and conclude with the national anthem.
