SPSU Udaipur Team Wins at Smart India Hackathon 2024

Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU), Udaipur, proudly celebrated the outstanding victory of Team “Echoes of Lhonak” at the Smart India Hackathon 2024 (SIH), winning a ₹1 lakh prize. Organized by AICTE under the Ministry of Education, this globally acclaimed event is the world’s largest open innovation model. SPSU students shone brightly on this prestigious national stage.

Team “Echoes of Lhonak,” led by Toshik Soni, tackled the critical challenge of designing an Early Warning System for Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs), a problem statement provided by the Ministry of Defence. The team—comprising Mitali Thapa, Simran Mohanty, Mohammed Tauqeer Raza, Bibek Jaishe, and Dhruv Lodha—developed an innovative solution under the expert mentorship of Prof. Harsh Bansal and Prof. Dr. Chandani Joshi. Their solution was presented to distinguished judges from the Ministry of Defence at the Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, New Delhi.

As third-year students from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI), the team exhibited remarkable creativity, technical expertise, and dedication in solving a real-world challenge. This achievement reflects the innovation-driven environment nurtured by Dr. Prithvi Yadav (Vice-Chancellor) and Dr. Amit Kumar Goel (Dean of FCI), whose visionary leadership continues to inspire excellence and ingenuity at SPSU.
