"Connecting with Oneself: The First Step to Connecting with Family":Dr. D.N. Vyas

Sangam University's Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Center, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defense (Government of India) and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, organized the fourth workshop in a series aimed at fostering inter-generational relationships. The primary objective of the workshop was to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the youth and the elderly.

The workshop commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp before Goddess Saraswati, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Karunesh Saxena, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Manas Ranjan Panigrahi, and Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Mehta. In his welcome address, Dr. Manoj Kumawat shed light on the growing social isolation in society, highlighting cases where family bonds are so weakened that children refuse to perform the last rites of their parents. He also referenced alarming trends in cities like Kota, where students, without leaving suicide notes, are taking their own lives.

Keynote Address by Dr. D.N. Vyas
Dr. D.N. Vyas, Patron of the Swami Vivekananda Kendra, Bhilwara, and Principal of MLV Textile College, delivered an insightful keynote on the role of youth and the elderly in bridging social divides. He remarked, "Wealth is defined not by money, but by the relationships we cherish." Drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda, he emphasized the pivotal role of youth in nation-building.

First Session: Bridging Generational Gaps
In the first session, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karunesh Saxena highlighted how today's youth can serve as a bridge connecting the wisdom of the past with the promise of the future. He urged students to work collaboratively with their families to achieve new milestones of success, emphasizing that the involvement of youth is essential in mitigating the social isolation faced by the elderly. Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi emphasized the family as the primary social unit, where the exchange of knowledge across three generations forms a strong foundation.

Second Session: Strengthening Team Spirit in Families
In the second session, Dr. Neha Sabharwal underscored the importance of teamwork within families, providing practical examples to illustrate how family units can be empowered through collaboration.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participating students were honored with certificates of appreciation. Faculty members, including Dr. Tanuja Singh, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and Dr. Kanika Choudhary, actively contributed to the event. Students managed the stage and registration responsibilities. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rameshwar Raikwar, expressing gratitude to all guests and participants.
