Vice-Chancellor Inaugurates Traditional Sports Competitions on Makar Sankranti

On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, the Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University, Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, inaugurated the traditional sports competitions at the Lokmanya Tilak Teacher Training College sports ground by playing Sitoliya. During the event, he called for reviving the importance of Indian culture and traditional games.

Prof. Sarangdevot emphasized, "The festival of Makar Sankranti brings a message of new energy, peace, and positivity into our lives. It embodies the eternal message of Vedic culture, 'Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya,' which inspires us to move from darkness to light."

He urged the youth and workers to embrace traditional games and contribute to their preservation. He stated, "Today’s younger generation is becoming distant from sports due to distractions such as mobile phones and books. However, our festivals and games are not just means of entertainment; they are vital pillars for social, mental, and physical development. Festivals like Makar Sankranti help strengthen these values."

The event saw active participation from academic and non-academic staff members, with sports like cricket, table tennis, tug of war, and Sitoliya being played. The Principal of the College, Prof. Saroj Garg, mentioned that the winning participants would be awarded during the Annual Day celebrations.

Several staff members, including Dr. Rachna Rathore, Dr. Balidan Jain, Dr. Sunita Murdia, Dr. Amit Dave, Dr. Harish Menaria, Dr. Harish Choubisa, and Dr. Rohit Kumawat, actively participated in the event. The program was conducted by Dr. Harish Choubisa, and Dr. Rachna Rathore delivered the vote of thanks.
