Jaipur: South Western Command celebrated 77thArmy Day. On this occasion, Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command paid homage to the Bravehearts and laid wreath at the Prerna Sthal, Jaipur military station. Number of events were organised in various stations of South Western Command to commemorate the occasion.
Army Commander extended his greetings to all ranks, defence civilians, veterans and their families. He interacted with all ranks and complimented them for their unwavering commitment, unmatched courage and dedication towards their duty. He also emphasised upon the role of Indian Army towards nation building and Vikshit Bharat. The Army Commander also exhorted that on this day we should rededicate ourselves to our duty towards the nation.
On this solemn occasion, a series of events were held at Jaipur, Bikaner, Bhatinda, Suratgarh, Hissar, Sriganganagar, Kota and other military stations to honour the Bravehearts for their sacrifices. The events included "Know Your Army" melas, equipment displays, Run for Fun, Peace Walks, visits to war memorials, quiz & competitions, interaction with NCC Cadets, veterans & veer Naris, felicitation ceremonies and Satat Milap activities.
Army day marks the historic occasion in 1949 when General K.M. Cariappa became the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, taking command from General Sir F.R.R. Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief. To commemorate this significant event, January 15th is observed as Army Day. The day serves as a tribute to the sacrifices, bravery and professionalism of Indian soldiers, both past and present, while also showcasing the Army's readiness and strength. Indian Army is transforming into a modern, robust and technologically superior force capable of facing challenges of the dynamic security environment and is committed to the security of nation with courage and unparalleled determination.
