A six-day work experience rural awareness orientation program for final-year students was organized from January 13 to 18, 2025, at the College of Community and Applied Sciences, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology. On the final day, Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, Vice-Chancellor of M.P. Krishi and Technology University, and Dr. S.K. Sharma, Additional Director General, ICAR, New Delhi, were the chief guest and special guest, respectively.
Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, the Vice-Chancellor, guided the final-year students to work with farming families and emphasized that the topic of natural farming was included for the first time in the RAVE program. He encouraged the students to disseminate the advanced agricultural techniques developed by various scientists to the farming families. During the program, Dr. S.K. Sharma gave a special talk on natural farming, focusing on biodiversity conservation and sustainable crop production cycles. He explained the difference between natural and organic farming and highlighted the benefits of natural farming for environmental conservation. He also mentioned that farmers could earn significant profits at low costs and encouraged students to adopt natural farming as a career option.
The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Dhriti Solanki, Dean of the College of Community and Applied Sciences. Dr. Solanki shared that every year, a 10-week work experience rural awareness program is held for students at agricultural science centers. This year, final-year students will visit Chittorgarh and Vallabhnagar, where they will share their experiences with farming families, introduce them to agricultural techniques, and also learn from the farmers’ experiences. For the past five days, under the guidance of Dr. Latika Vyas, Professor of Extension Education, students have been gaining insights into the work framework at agricultural science centers.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Vishakha Bansal, Program Coordinator. Dr. R.L. Soni, Director of Extension Education, Dr. R.A. Kaushik, Residential Director, Dr. Virendra Nepaliya, Special Officer, Dr. Rekha Vyas, Emeritus Scientist, and all department heads, including Dr. Hemu Rathore, Dr. Suman Audichya, Dr. Rajshree Upadhyay, Dr. Renu Mogra, and Dr. Vishakha Singh, attended the program. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Roopal Babel.
