Rajsamand. A 4-day-old newborn suffering from a rare congenital disease, Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), has successfully undergone surgery at the Gastro Surgery Department of Ananta Hospital.
Executive Director Dr. Nitin Sharma shared that the parents of the newborn had visited several hospitals, but the disease could not be diagnosed. When the baby was brought to Ananta Hospital, gastro surgeon Dr. Hemant Jain conducted tests and diagnosed the baby with Diaphragmatic Hernia. This is a congenital defect where a hole forms in the diaphragm, the muscle that aids in breathing, allowing abdominal organs such as the stomach, spleen, liver, and intestines to move into the chest cavity. This leaves very little space for the lungs to grow and develop.
The parents were informed that surgery was the only solution for this disease. After the successful operation, the baby was discharged in healthy condition.
The surgery was carried out with the support of Dr. Hemant Jain, Dr. Pashupat, Dr. Bhaskar, Dr. Surendra, Anesthetist Dr. Naveen, Dr. Sakshi, Dr. Pratibha, Pediatric Specialist Dr. Prasun, Dr. Himanshu, Dr. Pranay, and OT staff Ashish, Gopal, and Dev.
