Community Urged to Prioritize Early Childcare Proposals

Udaipur. During a workshop organized by ALERT Institute under the banner of the Forum for Crèches and Childcare Services Rajasthan, Mahip Singh, the Development Officer of Gogunda, emphasized the need to prioritize early childcare issues in the upcoming village council development plans. Singh stated that we must create ideal villages at the grassroots level and focus on developing primary services for the community within the GPDP (Gram Panchayat Development Plan). He stressed that everyone's cooperation is essential for this initiative.

He specifically called for the inclusion of early childcare issues for children aged 0 to 6 years in the plans of village secretaries and gram sabhas, and offered support for proposals on these matters. BK Gupta, founder of ALERT Institute, shared that workshops are being conducted at the block level through various organizations to raise community awareness about early childcare and related government schemes, encouraging their inclusion in the GPDP as a priority.

Dr. Priya Jhanjhariya, a pediatrician at the Gogunda Community Health Center, spoke about the importance of proper childcare and prenatal care. She emphasized the need to focus on the development of children under two years of age, paying special attention to nutrition and addressing any illnesses to ensure optimal development.

Panchayat representatives and community leaders raised concerns about better functioning of anganwadis, crèches, and school facilities during the workshop. The session was facilitated by ALERT Institute worker Devilaal Gameti. The workshop saw participation from 60 individuals, including village heads, panchayat members, sarpanch, anganwadi workers, and ASHA workers from 10 gram panchayats, along with Prakash Meghwal from Hand in Hand India.
