Love is the divine force that gives voice to the mute, softens the hardest of hearts, transforms demons into humans, and elevates animals to divinity. It eradicates jealousy, filling hearts with the fragrance of affection and bringing joy, enthusiasm, and boundless waves of happiness into life. Love is not just an emotion; it is the essence of life, the nurturer of Indian philosophy, and the pinnacle of human sensitivity.
"Raso Vai Sah" and Brahmananda Sahodara describe this very love, which manifests in all forms and becomes a tangible reality in life. That is why Meera, lost in Krishna’s love, exclaims—
"Hey Ri! Main Toh Prem Deewani, Mero Darad Na Jaane Koi."
The Gopis of Braj, enchanted by Krishna, sing—
"Koi Mai Lahai Ri Gopalin, Dadhi Ko Naam Shyam Sundar Ras, Bisari Gayo Braj Balhin."
Even Krishna, reminiscing about the land of Braj, yearns—
"Oodho Mohi Braj Bisrat Nahin, Hans Suta Ki Sundar Kagari, Aru Kunjan Ki Chhahin."
However, when this divine love is reduced to mere physical attraction, it turns ugly and impure, as we can witness in today’s world. Let us preserve the sacred essence of love, for it is worthy of reverence and admiration.
As poet Gulzar beautifully puts it—
"Let love remain love, don’t give it a name."
