Udaipur– The two-day Meera Mahotsav, jointly organized by Janardan Rai Nagar Vidyapeeth University and the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, concluded successfully. In his presidential address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot highlighted that Meera symbolized an extraordinary blend of simplicity and devotion, whose spiritual love awakened societal consciousness.
Prof. Sarangdevot announced the installation of a grand Meera Bhavan and a life-size statue of Meera at Vidyapeeth’s Pratap Nagar campus. He pledged a donation of ₹1 lakh for the statue and stated that the building would serve as a center for research and inspiration for the younger generation.
Former Chancellor Prof. Balwant Rai Jani, the chief guest, emphasized that Meera’s dialogues reflected the depth of scriptures. He described Meera as a symbol of women’s empowerment, highlighting her multilingual and multicultural persona.
Program Coordinator Prof. Pradeep Trikha informed that scholars, writers, and critics from across the country participated in the festival. On the final day, Prof. Jivansingh Kharkwal presented a research paper on Meera Bai’s probable travel route across India from an archaeological perspective, while Rauf Ahmed Adil from Kashmir presented a comparative study on Meera and the Bhakti poetess Lalleshwari.
The festival featured in-depth discussions on Meera’s literary heritage, spiritual contributions, and significant aspects of her life, highlighting potential areas for new research. During the concluding session, participants were felicitated with shawls, mementos, and certificates.
Eminent scholars and dignitaries, including Vijay Bahadur Singh, Prof. Kalyan Singh Shekhawat, Dr. Devendra Kumar Devesh, Basantilal Solanki, Prof. Manju Chaturvedi, Dr. Rachna Rathore, Dr. Santosh Lamba, Dr. Kirti Chundawat, and Dr. Himmat Singh Chundawat, graced the event. Dr. Harish Choubisa conducted the proceedings, while Prof. Madhav Hada delivered the vote of thanks.
