Udaipur . On the occasion of World TB Day, the Department of Respiratory Diseases at Pacific Medical College & Hospital (PMCH) organized an awareness seminar to support India's mission to eliminate tuberculosis (TB). This year’s theme, “Yes! We Can End TB. Commit, Invest, Deliver,” emphasized the importance of collective efforts and awareness to eradicate TB.
Head of the Department, Dr. C.S. Purohit, highlighted the need to eliminate societal misconceptions about TB. He stated that TB is a curable disease, and timely treatment can ensure complete recovery.
Respiratory specialist Dr. Atul Luhadia advised that if a person experiences a persistent cough for more than two weeks, night sweats, weight loss, or continuous fever, they should consult a doctor immediately. Early diagnosis and treatment not only help the patient but also prevent the disease from spreading.
Dr. Sunil Kumar elaborated on TB as a contagious disease primarily affecting the lungs, which can be completely cured with the right treatment. He also discussed the government’s National TB Elimination Program and its initiatives.
To mark World TB Day, PMCH is organizing a special free medical consultation camp from March 24 to March 31, offering free TB screening, consultations, X-rays, sputum tests, and other essential medical services to patients.
