Environmental Crisis Due to Deforestation and Urbanization

Udaipur . Deforestation, rapid urbanization, and industrialization are causing a severe crisis to the Earth's natural ecosystem. On the occasion of Earth Day, Jitendra Mehta, the president of ALERT Organization and an environmentalist, shared these concerns during a program held at Adinath Senior Secondary School, Hiran Magri Sector 11.

He stated that rainforests, grasslands, and wetlands are rapidly disappearing. The Amazon rainforest, known as the "lungs of the Earth," is also facing severe destruction. Mehta emphasized that deforestation is not only destroying wildlife habitats but also reducing the Earth's ability to absorb carbon dioxide. Illegal hunting and excessive resource use are putting many species at risk.

The chief guest, Dr. Surendra Pokharna, an ISRO scientist and social worker, urged that the Earth should be respected like a mother, and resource extraction should be done responsibly. He highlighted the global challenges posed by climate change, including pollution of water, air, and soil. He stressed the need for immediate action to protect future generations from environmental destruction.

Dr. Ritu Bhatnagar, Principal of the school, welcomed the guests and provided an introduction to the program. The event was organized by Mrs. Neelam Ramanuj. Over 200 students and teachers attended the program.
